Far Away Greens indoor golf will host the first Regional Major in Canada for long drive golfers from Amateur Long Drive (ALD) and Xtreme Long Drive (XLD) on Sun Feb 9th. ALD started in Canada in 2019 and in its first year, Canada sent 21 hitters to the world championships of amateur long drive in Myrtle Beach. Canada won the world championship in junior boys, youth girls, senior men and senior women and came second at the worlds in junior girls, adaptive, open men and open women. “Canada has a lot of talented long drivers and now they have an opportunity to showcase their talent,” says Far Samji, Tour commissioner for ALD Canada, and former 5-time Canadian Women’s long drive champion. “Up until now, if you hit the ball far you had no opportunities to really develop your craft unless you paid thousands of dollars to enter pro events. There are now 9 events between Ontario and Alberta that hitters can attend that will help them hone their craft,” says Samji.
